Camp Riverlea is now seeking applicants for summer 2008! Energetic, hard-working and caring people are needed to serve as counselors and group leaders for children ages 5-12. Spend your summer outdoors at a private day camp located on 100 acres of scenic countryside in northern Durham County. Enjoy meeting with others who share your passion for working with children and become a kid again as you sing songs around the campfire, paddle a canoe or play a game of “capture the flag.”
All applications are due April 30, 2008. The application is available to download and should be mailed to Al and Megan Whitted at the address indicated on the form. JUNIOR COUNSELORS are 16-17 year old paid employees who work as counselors-in-training. They serve under the direction of a counselor in their department. Departments include swimming, nature, archery, athletics, canoeing, arts & crafts, drama, music, golf and tennis. Priority will be given to applicants who have volunteered as orcs in the past or who have outstanding experience working with children. Camp will provide opportunities for specialized training in swimming (Water Safety Instruction and Lifeguarding), archery, canoeing and nature as well as Red Cross First Aid and CPR training. Junior counselors must be available to work from June 9-August 8, 2008.

COUNSELORS are employees age 18 or above who are enthusiastic about camp, possess a good work ethic, and have experience working with children. Counselors are employed to teach swimming, nature, archery, athletics, canoeing, arts & crafts, drama, music, golf and tennis. Counselors who have special experience with early childhood instruction are employed to serve as group leaders for the younger counselors. Camp will provide opportunities for specialized training in swimming (WSI and Lifeguarding), archery, canoeing and nature as well as Red Cross First Aid and CPR training. Staff orientation and training is scheduled for Monday, June 9 – Friday, June 13, 2008. Counselors must be available to work from June 9-August 8, 2008. | |
